Ethan’s guests were greeted in dramatic fashion at the entrance of his one-of-a-kind bar mitzvah held at the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica. Upon arrival, they were welcomed by an immense Douglas DC-1 passenger airplane, then continued to celebrate inside the museum beneath the vintage aircraft suspended overhead.
Various aircraft were on display – from helicopters and fighter planes, to bi-planes and gliders, making for a unique visual experience. Once the lights went down, they served as a dramatic backdrop for a special night of dinner and dancing.
Kids were seated at high top tables that allowed for open seating and an optimal view of the aircraft displays. Luscious navy blue linens and steel grey napkins reflected the industrial and contemporary vibes, with show stopping modern white florals popping against the color palette. A mix of tall and short florals centered the adult round tables, while short arrangements decorated the kids’ high top tables.
The food options at this event were plentiful. Ethan treated his out of town guests with dinner from his family’s favorite Venice restaurant, Clutch. There were additional stations serving Mediterranean and Mexican food, as well as the Vivace Pizza truck, a boba stand, and a chocolate fountain.
Guests took photo booth pictures with an old army plane as the backdrop, and an airbrush designer created custom shirts and hats for everyone. We also had tie-dye wax hand molds.
An added bonus at the museum was a roller coaster simulator that flipped brave guests upside down, giving them the ride of their lives. Everyone enjoyed watching their friends terrified faces on the large TV that carried a live feed of each ride.
The action continued on the vibrant, color-changing LED dance floor, which was flanked by the bar mitzvah boy’s name in marquee lights.
Joy and laughter filled the room as friends and family danced the evening away.
This family was effortlessly cool and it was a joy to make their laid-back, love-filled Santa Monica bash a reality. Mazel Tov, Ethan!
