A backyard bat mitzvah celebration is a great option for creating an event that is both personal and full of fun! This house’s mid-century modern architecture was stunning and stood out dramatically on stilts above the sports court where most of the party took place.

Guests entered through the porte-cocheres and were greeted by a colorful display of balloons crawling up the house. They then saw the kid’s bar, mirror photo booth, and a fun candle dipping station. These details made the event feel lively and unique to the bat mitzvah girl’s personality.
Once guests entered the gate to the sports court area, they encountered lovely wooden tables, stunning table settings and super funky colorful flowers. Overhead hung string lights and oversized lanterns. At the far end of the sports court, we had our dance floor and tall tables for the kids to spend time together.
The floral centerpieces truly set these tablescapes apart. They were unique, fresh, and colorful, yet still elegant.
One of our favorite elements of the night was a silent movie projection on the side of the house. Our bat mitzvah girl loves to surf, so we decided to do a silent projection of the surf movie Endless Summer to add an element of motion and summer vibes. Once it was dark enough outside, the movie was seen on the side of the house and let’s just say it was awesome, dude. But seriously, it was so cool!
With the 10 pm noise ordinance, we chose to move the party upstairs to the pool area for dessert and late-night mingling. We had a candy bar, churro station, and Coolhaus Ice cream sandwiches. Guests sat around the fireplace, chatting and enjoying each other’s presence. The bubble balloons in the pool were effortlessly quirky and cool.
We love this sweet family and were thrilled that they gave us the opportunity to plan an amazing event at their home. The details, from centerpieces, to candle making, to the silent surf movie, truly represented the essence of the family and bat mitzvah girl.
