Bat mitzvah girl Lexie knows exactly what she likes and we absolutely loved bringing her personal style to life! She told us she loves softball, light blue, and a bohemian aesthetic. The venue, The Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA, brought such a light and airy mood to this celebration.
This party was unique because it was important to the family to give the kids and adults some space for separate experiences to best fit with each group’s idea of the perfect party. Kids and adults loved this change! Cocktail hour started with everyone on the top floor of the hotel enjoying the ocean views, the hora, and activities. Then, adults headed one floor down to enjoy an upscale sit-down dinner while the kids continued to hang out, play, and eat upstairs. After dinner, kids and adults came together again to continue the party and dance the night away.
In the adult dining room, the stunning blue linens complimented the venue and the gorgeous views perfectly. The beautiful floral centerpieces were the star of the show on these tablescapes, bringing such a fresh element. The arrangements were mainly white, but pops of blue and swaying pampas grass brought Lexie’s bohemian dreams to life. The natural woven chargers at each place setting added an extra bohemian touch and the varying heights of the centerpieces provided contrast.
Upstairs, the kids area felt beachy and cool. The smaller vases of gorgeous florals were eclectic yet classy. The patterned blue linens felt effortlessly bohemian. We could not get over the view! The gorgeous sunset over the harbor was unbeatable. It really shows how venue choice itself can elevate an event.
Lexie’s lounge area was so special. It felt playful and intimate, tied into her bohemian theme, and still looked elegant! Rustic bamboo formed a structure over the modern sofa. A woven lantern and more lush florals hung from the structure. The woven pouf ottomans and throw pillows were the perfect touch. Another way the family made sure guests of all ages had the best time was creating signature drinks for both the adults and the kids.
We love adding customized decor to make the mitzvah kid feel special during their celebration. A neon sign with Lexie’s name mounted on an intricate succulent wall made the perfect backdrop for the DJ booth. Even throw pillows were customized with Lexie’s personal logo.
There were plenty of activities to keep guests of all ages involved in the fun. The photo booth was a classic and Lexie’s friends took the cutest photos. There were arcade games where guests got competitive. A sketch artist created stunning portraits of each guest to take home as a memento. The ice cream sandwich bar was a hit for dessert. It was so fun to be able to create your own mix of flavors and toppings.
Creating the perfect celebration for this bat mitzvah girl and her family was extra special because the mitzvah mom is Marni’s dear friend. Look at this adorable shot of Marni and her husband Murat having their portrait drawn! We are so honored that Lexie trusted us to bring out her sweet and spunky personality on her big day.
